Job Description

We are assisting a client with hiring CNC Machinists to work onsite in Monroe, CT. Set-up and operate a computer numerical control machines to manufacture parts to print tolerances. Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Run production lots, inspect parts, communicate with co-workers and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.

Monroe CT - CNC Machinst

  • 2nd shift; 3pm - 11:30PM, M-F. Unpaid 30 minute lunch, 2-15 minute paid breaks. OT available
  • Base rate - Range $27-$38 (depends on experience). 10% shift diff.
  • Training may take place on 1st or 2nd shift, depending on dept.
  • 8% bonus potential with a 200% attainment opportunity. Paid out semi - annual.

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs typical machine shop operations
  2. Set up and operate machining center(s) per work instructions
  3. Analyze written specifications, drawings and rough sketches and takes verbal instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations
  4. Follow work instructions and standard operating procedures
  5. Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or other designee
  6. Perform the following tasks including, but not limited to: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding
  7. Perform inspection of machined product (including documentation of results)
  8. Complete and maintain paperwork for parts
  9. Assist in other work areas, including but not limited to, pre-form fabrication, lay-up, infiltration, furnace operation and sand blasting
  10. Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures
  11. Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  12. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve issues
  13. Complete other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum four (4) years' experience as CNC Operator or equivalent technical machining certification/degree
  • Previous experience setting up and operating a CNC machine in a production environment
  • Experience with precision measurement methods and systems
  • Experience with computers (data entry, email)
  • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide (i.e., proven elementary math skills).
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language (i.e., proven elementary reading and writing skills).
  • Demonstrated ability to use a standard computer keyboard.
  • Demonstrated ability to use handheld measuring tools including, but not limited to, calipers, micrometer, tape measures, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawings.
